Current Status
Hurricane Lowell caused significant damage throughout Kōke‘e. Camp Sloggett's cabins sustained only minor damage and remain structurally sound; however, the fire pit hale requires full reconstruction, and road access and electrical infrastructure remain significantly compromised. This page summarizes current conditions and outlines how the community can support recovery efforts.
Camp Status
Cabins
A recent inspection confirmed the cabins remain in good condition, with roofs intact and only minor damage reported.
Access Road
The access road remains severely damaged in multiple sections. At present, the site is reachable only on foot, over fallen trees. The 10-to-12-mile stretch has proven particularly difficult for crews to access.
Fire Pit Hale
This structure sustained the most significant damage on the property and requires full reconstruction.
Power
Electrical service remains out across Kōke‘e. Current estimates indicate approximately 80% of electric lines and 60% of utility poles are down, damaged, or require full replacement. DLNR estimates that road clearance and power restoration will take four to six months.
