Ho‘omana I Ka Lāhui
Program’s Purpose
The program’s primary purpose is to provide culturally-specific services to racial/ethnic minority victims of dating violence, domestic violence, family violence, and/or sexual assault (DDFVSA) from keiki to kūpuna, with a trauma-informed approach.
The program supports revitalization of Native Hawaiian culture as the foundation for the prevention of DDFVSA through cultural community events while infusing cultural traditions and healing practices in trauma response with community input.
Program Goals
-
Providing prevention education in Hawaiian language and culture immersion schools, empowering keiki with life skills through lessons rooted in Hawaiian values.
-
Providing direct crisis intervention including counseling, mobile advocacy, peer support, in-person assistance, and case management as needed.
-
Host workshops that honor the rich heritage of NHPI, recognizing the strengths in traditional practices as foundation for healing, harmony, and prevention of violence.
-
Collaborate with service providers and organizations to share best practices, creating a stronger, more unified response to violence in NHPI communities.
-
Provide multilingual program materials, prevention resources, and public services accessible to non-English speaking communities.
